Yup, my first semi-injury from running.
But I guess, it isnt really an injury, is it? or is it? I know I have a few people who know about PT reading. Is it an injury?
My right hip/knee has been bugging me for awhile. It got worse after my 10 miles on Sunday. I knew that my local running store had a free injury clinic, so I figured I would check it out. After a short wait, I sat down with a Physical trainer named Ann I believe. She talked to me about what hurt, what shoes I wear, and a few other things. She then had me lay on the edge of the table and she did some bendy thing with my leg, and then I did the same on the other side. She felt a difference in whatever she was looking for, and knew exactly what the issue was.
Her remedy was foam rolling.
I have read a lot about foam rolling, and it was something I was curious about, but not curious enough about to look into further. Until today, when I left the store with my very own foam roller.
The main thing I read (and that the PT told me) was that it would hurt.
I THOUGHT PEOPLE WERE EXAGGERATING!
But they weren't. Because holy crap this hurts!
I attempted my first ever self timer/action shot picture. It didnt go well. Excuse the blurriness. I didn't retake the picture because then my camera batteries died. So oh well.
Do you see the look of pain on my face?!
But honestly, it already feels better.
So I will solider on. And do this daily probably. At least everyday I run.
Besides that, not much is going on. I ran 4 miles on Monday morning, and it was a truly fabulous run. I ran negative splits, and that was a first for a four mile run. I think I have only achieved it three times on my three mile runs, so I was over the moon with happiness.
Have not run since since I was dealing with this whole hip pain thing. I won't run tomorrow because I am doing my long run on Friday this week.
Why you ask?!
BECAUSE SHAWN IS GETTING MARRIED THIS WEEKEND!! And I am in the wedding, so that cuts out Saturday morning, and Sunday morning I plan on being hung over.
Thats all for now folks :)
I'm sorry to hear your hurt! take care of that leg missy- you have a race to run!
